NSW Labor leadership aspirant Chris Minns accepted a banned donation from a Labor party fixer and property developer Bechara Khouri in the lead-up to his election to Parliament
NSW Labor leadership aspirant Chris Minns accepted a banned donation from a Labor party fixer and property developer Bechara Khouri in the lead-up to his election to parliament.
The revelation of the donation from Mr Khouri takes place as Labor MPs prepare to vote on whether Mr Minns or Strathfield MP Jodi McKay should become the next NSW ALP leader on Saturday.About 11,000 rank and file members have already voted in the ballot, which closes on Friday, and their votes will count for 50 per cent of the outcome.
But a senior Labor source said a "historical administrative mistake" involving Ms McKay did not compare to Mr Minns receiving a donation from a developer. But his opponents have tried to highlight links that Mr Minns has to controversial Labor figures, including disgraced former party general secretary Jamie Clements and Mr Khouri.
