The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Adamawa State has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of former INEC REC Yunusa Hudu Ari for his claims that Senator Aishatu Binani won the 2023 governorship election, despite the Supreme Court's ruling in favor of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The Inter-Party Advisory Council ( IPAC ) has issued a strong condemnation of Yunusa Hudu Ari , the former Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) in Adamawa State , demanding his immediate arrest and prosecution. Ari has been accused of attempting to undermine Nigeria's judiciary and democratic processes through his recent statements concerning the 2023 governorship election .
In a press conference held in Yola, Bello Babajo, the Chairman of IPAC in Adamawa State, labeled Ari's remarks as 'deliberate and misleading,' calling for swift and decisive action against any individual who seeks to destabilize the nation's electoral integrity. Ari, who was dismissed from his position, had publicly claimed that Senator Aishatu Binani, not Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, was the rightful winner of the 2023 governorship election. This assertion contradicts the definitive ruling made by the Supreme Court on the matter.IPAC asserts that Ari's actions demonstrate contempt towards both INEC and the judiciary, alleging that he deliberately sought to mislead the public and sow confusion concerning the election results. Babajo highlighted Ari's attempt to manipulate the election results and his subsequent evasion of justice. The council further urged the Inspector General of Police to apprehend Ari without delay and ensure that he faces accountability for his alleged transgressions, emphasizing the critical need to safeguard the integrity of Nigeria's democratic institutions
