Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of Stanley Nwoke, the elected youth leader of Umusi-Olokwa in Imo State. The incident, which also involved arson and injuries to Nwoke's siblings, is believed to be linked to a recent youth election.
The Imo State Police Command has apprehended four suspects allegedly involved in the murder of Stanley Nwoke, the newly elected youth leader of Umusi-Olokwa in Owerri West Local Government Area. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when unidentified gunmen attacked Nwoke, resulting in his death. According to Henry Okoye, the police spokesperson in Imo, the assailants also set ablaze nine houses and injured four of Nwoke's siblings.
Okoye revealed that Chinaza Nwachukwu is suspected to be the mastermind behind the attack. Investigations conducted by the police suggest that the violence stemmed from a youth election held on January 3rd, 2025, where Nwoke emerged as the victor. A faction allegedly led by Chinaza Nwachukwu, who is currently at large, is believed to be responsible for the attack. The deceased's body has been taken to the morgue, while the injured victims are receiving medical attention in a hospital. The Imo State Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents and has urged anyone with credible information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
