The Imo State House of Assembly has condemned the murder of a pregnant woman identified as Mrs Chinwendu Amadi at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport. The lawmakers called on relevant authorities to apprehend the assailants.
The House made the call following a motion moved by Obinna Egu, member representing Ngor-Okpala Constituency, where the deceased hails from. Moving the motion, Egu informed the House that the brutal killing of the expectant mother who hails from Awogu Logara Autonomous Community, Ngor-Okpala LGA, has sent shock waves throughout the airport environs and surrounding communities as people are now living in perpetual fear not knowing what may happen next.
The lawmaker while urging his colleagues to join in condemning the act, demanded for perimeter fencing at the premises of the airport in order to control movement of people. Egu also called for a police station to be established within the axis. The House after much deliberations on the motion resolved to call on the security agencies to conduct thorough investigation on the murder of the pregnant woman, identify the perpetrators and ensure they face full consequences of the law.
