Gov Nwifuru approves 75,000 minimum wage for Ebonyi workers

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has approved the payment of 75, 000 Naira minimum wage to civil servants in the state. Nwifuru announced this shortly after a Holy Mass at Government House Chapel, Abakaliki on Sunday.

This is contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki on Sunday. The Governor said the decision followed a careful review of the current economic situation in the country, especially as it affects the workforce. According to the Governor, the least paid civil servant on grade level 2 will enjoy a full minimum wage of 75,000 while from grade level 3 and above will get an increment of 40,000 across board.

Governor Nwifuru also announced the appointment of General Managers to pilot affairs of two major industries in the state. The appointees include Dr Obinna Ezenkwa, Umuoghara Pulverization Plant and Barrister Uchenna Otuh, Ezzamgbo Pipe Production Factory. The Governor said the appointments were made bearing in mind the expertise of the appointees which are needed to drive the industries. He urged them to endeavour to bring their expertise to bear in the service to the state.
