The Ijora Badia Division of the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that its operatives arrested four suspects who specialised in stealing vehicles and dismantling them for onward sale as spare parts. Lagos is the commercial hub of Nigeria. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said that the suspects who were identified as Alafia Afiwajuomo, Ganiyu Tajudeen, Olamilekan Hassan and Lucky Esomojumi were arrested at Igamu Underbridge in the state.

The spokesman for the state police command in a statement on Wednesday said the police launched an investigation into the activities of the gang after receiving information that a Toyota Camry was snatched at gunpoint from one Sandra at Iganmu in the Surulere area of Lagos. “The car was in the process of being dismantled before it was recovered by the police. Parts of cars suspected to have been dismantled and sold as spare parts were also recovered at the scene,” the statement added.
