The Kaduna command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has recovered 28 stolen cars in the state.
Speaking on Saturday at a sensitisation and enlightenment campaign for drivers in the state, Zubairu Mato, FRSC sector commander, said the cars have been returned to their owners.
He said the rise in the spate of car theft made the FRSC conceive the idea of registering proof of ownership when renewing vehicle particulars. He advised motorists to ensure proper registration of their vehicles once the national vehicle identification scheme commences. Mato also said the rate of auto crashes has decreased in the state, adding that about 300 people died in road accidents from January to date.He said the figure has reduced when compared to previous years while attributing the crashes to overspeeding and neglect of road signs.
