Ivory Coast’s main opposition leader and the second president to lead the West African nation after independence, Henri Konan Bedie has died at 89.

Bedie who was part of an old guard of politicians who dominated politics in the West African nation for a generation, died at a hospital in the commercial capital Abidjan on Tuesday, a close relative toldThe cause of Bedie's death was not immediately known.
