It's a source of much debate but experts have cleared things up once and for all
Whether to keep certain foods in the fridge or not has been the subject of much controversy over the years. People don't seem to be able to agree on where to store staples, with ketchup and cucumbers among those being commonly debated. It's important to keep food in the right place so it lasts as long as possible. And now experts have shared their advice on a number of common items in a bid for households to save money and reduce waste.
Other products it says should be stored there include oranges, potatoes, and 'most' fruits and vegetables, although there are some exceptions which will appear below. Four foods the charity says should never go in the fridge are bananas, whole onions, whole pineapples and bread. Bananas should be stored in a cool place, in a cupboard, or on the side, while whole onions should be stored in a cool, dry, dark place, and ideally in a cloth bag.
