The Ondo State Government has called on the Federal Government to assist farmers in the state whose farms were destroyed by flood in 2019 and 2020.
The Special Adviser to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Agriculture and Agric-business, Mr Akin Olotu, added that the affected farmers lost about N300m to the flood. Olotu spoke at the distribution of relief farm materials to some rice and maize farmers in the Akure North and Akure South Local Government Area by the National Emergency Management Agency.
Olotu said, “We had flood challenge in the state last year, our farmers lost several millions of naira to the flood. It cannot be less than N300m. In some communities in the Akure North and South LGAs, some rice farms swept away by the flood and some of the farmers obtained bank loans to do the farming. “
The Area Head of NEMA in Ekiti, Ondo and Osun States, Mr Afolayan Olusegun explained that gesture was to assist the farmers whose farms were destroyed by flood in 2020 in the two local governments.All rights reserved.
