The Nigerian Federal Government has greenlit the creation of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic in Gwarinpa, Abuja, aiming to enhance technological, vocational, and entrepreneurial skills across the country.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has given its approval for the creation of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic in Gwarinpa, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the new institution is designed to focus on technological, vocational, and entrepreneurial training, aligning with the government's overarching goal of ensuring each state in the federation has at least one federal polytechnic.

This was communicated through a letter dated January 9, 2025, addressed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa. The letter, received by the FCT minister's office on January 16, 2025, requests Wike to propose suitable locations for both the temporary and permanent campuses of the polytechnic within Gwarinpa. A joint technical team from the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Board for Technical Education will subsequently visit these proposed sites to conduct a thorough review and inspection. Based on the team's findings and recommendations, final approval for the chosen location will be granted. The letter emphasizes the government's commitment to expanding access to quality technical and vocational education across the country. It also suggests the possibility of the polytechnic taking over an existing tertiary institution if the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory deems it appropriate. The letter concludes with assurances of continued collaboration and support from the Ministry of Education
