The Federal Capital Territory Football Association chairman Mohammed Mouktar has outlined his long-term plans for the football body, as he clocks one year in office.
Mouktar, who was elected June 20, 2019, added that he was committed to making football in Abuja and its environs the best in the country.
“In the long-term, we intend to get massive sponsorships for various competitions, grow female football, grow a few world-class football academies and build more playing pitches,” Mouktar said. “My experience has been remarkable because we had a plan, we executed it and it has transformed the football landscape, and we are hopeful that the future will be very bright. I have seen how very passionate people are about the game they love,” he added.
In its first year in office, the Mouktar-led board rebranded the FCT League with cash prizes for winners, along with the renovation of the Area 3 and Area 10 pitches, as well as a partnership deal with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
