The Executive Director, LEAP Africa, Femi Taiwo, has called on African countries to make use of youths in the continent to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Taiwo said this at a briefing organised by LEAP Africa ahead of the International Youth Day celebration scheduled to hold between August 12 and 18. He said, “For us, it is not just about what happens that week, it is about the possibility that the event holds for them. The youth initiative programme that we run teaches young people how to solve a problem in their communities as individuals and as a group.
“If we want to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the sustainable development of Africa, we need to deploy Africa’s greatest resources; our youths. We need them to champion change consistently and sustainably.” The Chief Operating Officer of LEAP Africa, Kehinde Ayeni, said the organisation’s priority had been placed on youths using their untapped abilities to develop Africa.
