Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II met with the President of the Anti-Drug Abuse Group to discuss the growing problem of drug addiction, particularly among young people and women. They emphasized the need for community awareness and urged support for a proposed law against drug abuse.
His Royal Highness, the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, received a visit from the President of the Anti- Drug Abuse Group, Ambassador Maryam Hassan, at his palace. The Emir expressed his concerns about the growing prevalence of drug abuse , especially among women and youth in society. Some of the issues presented before us are related to drug abuse ; there are actions that cannot be carried out without taking drugs, such as a person killing their sibling or their parents.
All of this cannot happen unless one loses their sanity. Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II urged them to focus on raising awareness in the community, especially about the severe consequences of drug abuse, which has become widespread. In her speech, Ambassador Maryam Hassan, the President of the Anti-Drug Abuse Group, stated that they came to inform the Emir about the activities of the organization, particularly the fight against drug abuse among the public, especially women and youth. She said, 'We are organizing workshops for teachers and holders of traditional titles to raise awareness. We have also proposed a law on drug abuse to the National Assembly, but it has not been presented yet. We are seeking the support of the Kano emirate to ensure the passage of the bill in the National Assembly.'
