The Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA ) has arrested 34 suspects for alleged drug trafficking in the state. The agency's spokesperson, ASN Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, disclosed this in a statement issued in Kano on Wednesday. Muhammad-Maigatari, quoting the state commander, Malam Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, said the arrest was made during a raid conducted as a precautionary measure to curb drug abuse during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

'On December 24th, the agency raided several drug gathering points across the state. These locations included Fagge area, Sani Abacha Stadium, Dan Agundi, and the popular Idumota area.' He stated that the agency recovered large quantities of illicit drugs, including indian hemp, cocaine, Exol-5, and others. Other items seized include weapons used to attack security personnel. The statement further added that those found culpable would be given the necessary treatment to help them quit the illicit trade. The commander reiterated the agency's commitment to dismantling drug dens and reducing drug abuse in the community during the festive period. He added that investigations are ongoing, and all suspects would be arraigned in court following the completion of the investigation
