Former Central Bank Governor , Godwin Emefiele , has faced accusations of ownership over a 753-unit duplex estate seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ). The EFCC claims this is the largest asset seizure recorded since the commission's inception in 2003. According to a statement released by the EFCC , the property, located on Plot 109 in Lokogoma District, Abuja, spans 150,500 square meters.

Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie ruled on December 2, 2024, finalizing the forfeiture of the estate to the federal government based on suspicion of unlawful acquisition, citing Sections 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud And Other Fraud Related Offences Act No 14, 2006, and Section 44 (2) B of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
