The Edo State Police Command has achieved two significant breakthroughs: rescuing a kidnapped citizen and recovering a stolen car. Operatives successfully rescued Osazee Okugbowa, who was abducted by armed men, and reunited him with his family. In another operation, police recovered a Toyota Yaris stolen at gunpoint and returned it to the owner.

The Edo State Police Command has successfully rescued Osazee Okugbowa from the clutches of suspected kidnappers. Moses Yamu, the command's spokesperson, confirmed the rescue in a statement released on Sunday. According to Yamu, Okugbowa was rescued by operatives from the Ologbo Division, located in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, on Friday, February 8, 2025, at approximately 5 pm.

Okugbowa was kidnapped on February 7, 2025, by five armed men who stormed his residence in the Power Line area of Owanoba community, in the presence of his family. After receiving necessary medical attention, Okugbowa has since been reunited with his loved ones. Yamu further stated that the police command is actively pursuing the suspects involved in the kidnapping with the aim of apprehending them. In a separate incident, the command also reported the recovery of a silver-colored Toyota Yaris with registration number 535 DR. The vehicle was stolen at gunpoint from its owner on Upper Mission Road Extension in Benin City. Yamu explained that the car was recovered by operatives from the Okuaihe Division in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area following a distress call received on February 6, 2025. He revealed that the operatives intercepted and pursued the car thieves, who eventually abandoned the vehicle at Iguomon Community along the Benin-Agbor Road. The recovered car has been returned to its rightful owner, while the police are diligently working to identify and arrest the individuals responsible for the theft
