The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has rejected the conduct and the results of the Saturday, August 16, 2025 Senatorial and House of Representatives by-elections in the state.
DAILY POST reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had early on Sunday, August 17, 2025 declared the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC winners of the elections. The Commission declared Joseph Ikpea and Omosede Igbinedion, the winners of the Edo Central senatorial district and the Ovia Federal Constituency by-elections respectively. Reacting to the conduct and outcome of the elections, PDP, said it rejected the purported results being circulated by INEC.
The party alleged that INEC hid under the so-called “glitches” and “malfunctions,” but the real issue is its lack of competence, neutrality, and moral standing. According to him, the BVAS is the single most important tool that guarantees the credibility of elections in Nigeria.
