Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peseiro, believes that playing more quality friendly games on good pitches will aid Nigeria’s quest to win its fourth Africa Cup of Nations at the 2024 edition in Cote d’Ivoire.
He said good preparation and training on good pitches would help the technical crew to assemble an outstanding squad capable of surmounting every opposition at the AFCON.
“Some of the players I really wanted to see their performance through the friendly games could not make it to the Portugal camp and I had to get quick replacements for them. There are committed players in the present Eagles’ squad and they are ready for the challenges ahead,” he said. “Playing against Cote d’Ivoire, which is a strong team and also the host of the AFCON in the opening game might be tough for the Super Eagles, but I strongly believe Nigeria will not be disgraced in that game.
Sports Minister, John Owan Enoh, has assured that the Federal Government will start implementing the National Sports Industry Policy as part of president Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Winners at the final phase of the Ardova Handball Premier League’s final phase will earn N2.5 million, the organisers have said.
