No fewer than three health workers and four patients at the Federal Medical Centre , Abeokuta, Ogun State, have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.Reliable sources at the hospital told DAILY POST that the health workers possibly had contacts with a pregnant woman, who died of COVID-19 complications at the Ogun FMC last week. The woman, it was learnt, passed away before the result of her test came out. Her corpse has since been released to her husband for burial.

DAILY POST reliably gathered that the FMC had, during the week, sent 10 samples to the laboratory for test.An inner source reliably told DAILY POST that one of the infected four patients just returned from Kebbi State.Orisajo confirmed to our correspondent that only two patients have tested positive for COVID-19 in the hospital, saying, “So far, no doctor affected.”He spoke further that FMC Abeokuta on Friday evening, “recorded two cases of patients who tested positive for coronavirus.

According to him, on presentation in the Centre on Thursday, the management isolated the patients based on the obvious manifestation of COVID-19 symptoms. Having tested positive, Orisajo said “arrangements are already in progress to transfer them to government designated isolation centre.” He informed that the FMC just received a consignment of personal protective equipment from the National Centre for Disease Control on Thursday, adding that “all the health personnel that attended to them were adequately kitted.”Meanwhile, DAILY POST gathered from another source within the hospital that a very important meeting would he held later in the day to discuss the issue.
