The Kaduna Correctional Centre on Thursday refused to take into custody a convict brought by the state zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The state Controller of the Kaduna Correctional facility, Sanusi Danmusa, said the rejection was based on a directive from above that centre should protect inmates from the coronavirus pandemic.
Mustapha, a Bureau de Change operator, recently bagged seven years’ imprisonment without option of fine.According to the prison chief, the centre stopped accepting convicts and visitors as a way of curtailing the spread of the coronavirus.
