COVID-19: Jumat prayers put on hold in Kwara
The Ulamma Council of Kwara State, on Thursday, in Ilorin, informed the Muslim Ummah that Jumat prayers remain suspended in the state.
The council said Jumat mosques will commence as soon as the council completes the ongoing consultations with stakeholders and authorities of government. A statement by the secretary of the state council, Justice Salihu Oloruntoyin Mohammed, said this was in line with the directive of the Emir of Ilorin, and Chairman of the state traditional council of chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari.
“I am directed to inform the Muslim Ummah that Jumat prayers will commence as soon as the ongoing deliberations by the Kwara state council of Ulamma, the state government’s representatives and relevant stakeholders is completed.”He appealed to the Muslim Ummah to remain calm and resolute on the fact that the authorities were taking seriously against the community spread of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
The council further urged religious leaders in the state to adhere strictly with the health caregivers instructions in a bid to support the government and the National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, in the crusade against the global Covid-19 deadly pandemic in the state.
