The Nation Newspaper Count troops out of emirship tussle, says Army
Its men had no hand in enforcing any court order, Army’s spokesperson, Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, said in a statement last night.Bar Association Association that the Army was meddling in the tussle by deploying soldiers to the Palace of the dethroned emir, Aminu Ado Bayero.He said the soldiers had only taken proactive steps to checkmate any possible breakdown or breach of the security that may be occasioned by the emirship tussle.
“All the Army is doing at this stage is to monitor the situation as it unfolds and be on standby in the event of any escalation that could threaten the security of the state and the region in general.”
