Bacterium which causes cholera disease and is transmitted by contaminated waterNO fewer than 169 persons have been confirmed dead in Kano State following the outbreak of cholera that affected 41out of the 44 local government areas of the state.
The state Director of Public Health, Dr Ashiru Rajab, confirmed the number of death in a telephone interview withHe, however, explained that the casualties were recorded within the last three months in the state. Rajab said a total of 5,221 persons were affected with the disease, while about 4,860 had so far been treated and discharged.
He added that a total of 191 affected persons were currently receiving treatment in various health facilities across the state.
