The most widely read newspaper in Nigeria
No fewer than 60 people have died from a cholera outbreak in Katsina State, the state Commissioner for Health, Yakubu Danja, said on Saturday.
Danja made the disclosure in Katsina in his address at the Annual General Meeting of the state branch of the Nigerian Medical Association.Danja, who represented Governor Aminu Masari at NMA’s AGM, said the government was making efforts at curbing the spread of the disease in the state. Danja did not disclose the number of local government areas in the state currently being ravaged by the disease.
He advised residents in the state to adhere to “basic protocols on personal hygiene,” noting that the use of clean water is the “surest preventive measure” against the disease.
