The Independent National Electoral Commission has presented certificates of return to the president-elect, Bola Tinubu and vice president-elect, Kashim Shettima. Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress was declared the winner of the presidential election held on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Tinubu and Shettima were given the certificates on Wednesday at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, the venue of the presidential election results collation, about 12 hours after they were declared as the president-elect and vice-president-elect by INEC.

Immediately Tinubu and his wife, Remi stepped out to collect the certificate, his supporters started singing ‘On your mandate we shall stand, Bola’.Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, who came second after polling 6,984,520 votes. Peter Obi of the Labour Party polled 6,101,533 votes to come third, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s Rabiu Kwankwaso came fourth after polling 1,496,687 votes.
