Amidst the crisis in the Benue State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Ezekiel Adaji, has emerged as the new chairman of the party. Chief Adaji emerged during the party’s state congress that was held on Thursday in Makurdi.
With his emergence, he now heads the new 27-member State Executive Committee of the party elected with him. The winners were announced by the leader of the Benue State PDP Congress Electoral Committee led by Alh. Ibrahim Shaba. Other officials elected at the state congress include State Secretary, Dan Nyikwagh; State Publicity Secretary, Tim Nyor; Youth Leader, Ibya Terkimbil; and Women Leader, Mrs Alice Albert, amongst others.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the newly inaugurated State Working Committee, SWC, Chief Adaji said he is overwhelmed by the massive show of support given to them by members of the party. He said: 'Our state is in need of leadership and my state EXCO will not disappoint the party to ensure it bounces back to power. 'We are going to hit the ground running and we shall reconcile all aggrieved members of the party, as we intend to set up a reconciliation committee immediately.
