The Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Sunday stated that following a meeting it held with the leadership of the state

police command, it has suspended its earlier planned protest against police brutality on journalists in the state.

“The union had earlier scheduled Saturday, 31st July for the protest over the recent attack on AIT Bauchi reporter while on an official engagement by some policemen of the Rapid Response Squad of the command,” the NUJ stated. “Commenting on items seized from the reporter, the Police Commissioner said the camera has been returned to the victim’s organization, adding that the Command undertakes to fully settle his medical bills and pay compensation for any lost item.
