In his petition, Fein urged the US Senate and the House of Representatives Committee Chairmen to sanction Buhari and Malami over Kanu’s continued detention, despite the Appeal Court judgment.
The letter forwarded to DAILY POST by Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, is titled: “Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act: Recommending President Joe Biden to impose sanctions against Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerian Attorney General Abubakar Malami for gross violations of internationally recognized human rights against Biafran leader Nnamdi Kanu, including kidnapping, torture, and prolonged arbitrary detention to retaliate for exercising internationally...
The letter is coming after the Nigerian Government refused to obey a court order for Kanu to be released.However, Malami has argued that Kanu was not discharged, stressing that the Nigerian Government filed fresh charges against him.In the appeal before the Supreme Court, the Nigerian Government faulted the appellate court’s judgment.Full text of the letter below:“Mr.
