Former militant leader Asari Dokubo has again accused the Nigerian Army and Navy of being behind oil bunkering in the Niger Delta, claiming that President Bola Tinubu directed him to address the press on this issue. He stated that 99% of oil theft can be traced to the military and that ethnic nationalities are not involved, but rather paid by soldiers to carry out the illegal activities.
Former militant leader, Asari Dokubo , has reaffirmed his claim that those in the Nigeria n Army are behind oil bunkering in the Niger Delta . Asari said President Bola Tinubu directed him to address the press, where he accused soldiers of oil bunkering in the region. In June, the former militant leader had claimed that the bulk cases of oil theft recorded in the Niger Delta were traceable to the Nigeria n Army and Navy.
Addressing State House Correspondents, Asari said: “The military is at the centre of oil theft and we have to make this very clear to the Nigerian public that 99 per cent of oil theft can be traced to the Nigerian military, the Army and the Navy especially.' However, the former militant leader distanced ethnic nationalities from oil bunkering in the Niger Delta region.
