Mr Ihekweazu said Nigeria has about 3,500-bed spaces identified as available for COVID-19 patients.

The NCDC boss said there are considerations of home treatment in certain circumstances.

”We will always be honest with Nigerians. We are struggling at the moment and we might have to adapt our strategies because of the realities we face.“Our policy hasn’t changed but the pressure is there and that might have to change in the next few days,” he said.Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, appealed to individuals and group of persons who own properties, especially hotels, to make them available for use in cases of an emergency.

He also said additional manpower has been brought in from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency , to assist in containing the community transmission of the virus. “It is of concern to us all that everything should not be left to government alone. We must all take collective ownership of the health and wellbeing of our citizens,” he said.
