The agency has also been investigating social media data collected from the likes of Meta’s Facebook and Instagram, as well as Twitter and others, whose platforms and data have been abused by foreign regimes.

Critics do not believe Project Texas will protect US user data from being abused by the Chinese Communist Party, no matter what TikTok promises.
