Speaker Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze expresses concern over the escape of two suspects arrested in connection with the killing of Hon. Azuka, a lawmaker representing the Labour Party.

The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Nkem Udeze, has expressed deep concern over the reported escape of two suspects apprehended in connection with the murder of lawmaker, Azuka. The Anambra State Police Command, in a statement released by its spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the escape. The suspects were initially detained in relation to the death of Azuka, who was elected on the platform of the Labour Party.

Azuka was kidnapped on Ugwunankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha. Tragically, his body was discovered a week ago on the 2nd Niger Bridge, approximately 40 days after his abduction. According to the police, the suspects managed to escape during an operation aimed at apprehending a receiver of stolen goods and recovering vehicles involved in the gang's criminal activities. The Speaker, in a statement addressing the situation, characterized the escape as highly unfortunate. He acknowledged the commendable and professional manner in which the police had conducted the investigation up to this point, yet this incident casts a shadow over their efforts. The Speaker emphasized the urgency of tracking down and apprehending the fleeing suspects. He urged the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, to intensify efforts and implement all necessary measures to ensure the suspects are re-captured and brought to justice. The Speaker further recommended that the command declare the suspects wanted immediately and publish their full names, addresses, and photographs to solicit public assistance in locating them
