The Akwa Ibom State Government has strongly denied allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that Governor Umo Eno personally awards contracts. The government insists that all contracts are awarded through a transparent process involving the Finance and General Purpose Committee and the State Executive Council.

The Akwa Ibom State Government has refuted claims made by the opposition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), alleging that Governor Umo Eno directly handles contract awards in the state. In a statement released on Monday, Governor Eno 's spokesperson, Ekerete Udoh, dismissed the ADC's accusations as baseless and an attempt to gain attention and mislead the public.

Udoh clarified that all contracts in Akwa Ibom State are awarded through the Finance and General Purpose Committee (FGPC), which acts as the procurement hub for all state projects. These projects are subsequently approved by the State Executive Council in accordance with budgetary allocations. According to Udoh, the governor lacks the authority to unilaterally award contracts, even those within the limits permitted by law.The statement highlighted the ADC's claim regarding the Uyo Village Road project, stating that it was awarded to Nsik Motors as an outright falsehood. The actual contractor for the project is AMITEC Construction Limited, a reputable firm with a proven track record of delivering quality infrastructure in the state. Udoh emphasized the importance of verifying facts before spreading misinformation, urging the ADC to conduct thorough research instead of resorting to deliberate falsehoods. The government stressed its commitment to transparency and due process in all its operations. A Project Evaluation and Monitoring Team, composed of highly skilled professionals, has been established to ensure the adherence to these principles. The statement further addressed the construction of Arise Compassionate Homes, which are executed through direct labor, involving resource persons from the communities where the homes are located. The homes are fully furnished and equipped with solar power, costing ₦25 million each, inclusive of VAT and WHT. Beneficiaries also receive ₦500,000 as seed funds for entrepreneurial ventures. The government challenged the ADC to replicate these homes with similar features at the same cost, emphasizing the government's commitment to frugal and responsible financial management
