Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has expressed concern over the increasing vandalism of public facilities , especially electricity transformers , in the state. Governor Eno stated that besides the significant financial burden on the government to replace these damaged assets, the vandalism also hinders rural development , a key priority for his administration. He made these remarks at Government House, Uyo, when the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Baba Azare, paid him a courtesy visit.
Mr. Eno assured the new police chief of his ongoing support for security agencies in the state to foster peace and development. He highlighted the new commissioner's previous experience in Akwa Ibom as deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations, noting his familiarity with the state's terrain and security situation. Governor Eno also disclosed the government's plan to ensure the presence of at least one security operative per village to act as a watchful eye for the police. He emphasized the role of the Ibom Community Watch in enhancing community policing and expressed confidence in their continued efforts to provide valuable information to law enforcement
