A renowned business mogul and publisher of the defunct Third Eye Newspapers, Chief Akanni Aluko, on Saturday, cautioned the National Assembly against an attempt to gag the media, saying such would fail.
The media bill sponsored by the lawmaker representing Ogo Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives, Segun Odebunmi, had generated heated debate by media professionals, describing it as an attempt to gag the media. But Aluko said the bill would smear the image of the lawmaker, adding that he had failed to realise that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari , would not do anything to suppress, bully or criminalise the media.
