Deji Adeyanju, a prominent activist lawyer, has denounced the threats against Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, calling them unacceptable and highlighting Obi's crucial role as a voice of opposition. Adeyanju expressed deep concern over Nigeria's trajectory, warning that the country is heading towards a full-blown dictatorship and a one-party state.

Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju , has lamented that Nigeria is sinking into a full-blown dictatorship. Adeyanju made the remark in response to claims by former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi that his life was under threat. Posting on X, the activist lawyer said no harm or persecution must come to Obi. According to Adeyanju: 'I condemn the threat to HE Peter Obi ’s life for been a vocal voice of opposition in Nigeria . No harm or persecution must come to him.

'Nigeria is sinking into a full-blown dictatorship and a one party state before our very eyes and all the concerns of HE Peter Obi are timely and spot on.' DAILY POST had reported Obi as saying his life was under threat due to his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Obi made the allegation after the National spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Felix Morka, said the former Anambra State governor has crossed the line so many times.
