Abia State House of Assembly has passed a law abolishing the Abia State Governor's and Deputy Governor's Pensions Law number 4 of 2021. The Bill. which is known as 'H.A.B 11: The Abia State Governor's and Deputy Governor's Pensions Law Repeal Bill 2024', was sponsored by the Majority Leader and member representing Arochukwu constituency in the House, Mr Okoro Uchenna Kalu.
The sponsor of the Bill, Uchenna Okoro Kalu while moving the motion, said the Bill was timely as according to him, it will help reduce the cost of governance in the State, release funds that would be used in the development of the State for welfare of the greater majority of Abia people. However, the details of funds involved in the repealed pension Laws were not disclosed by the House. Meanwhile, the Abia State House of Assembly has also passed the Bill called 'H.A.
