Reigning champions of the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL, Enyimba Football Club of Aba, Abia Warriors and Abia Comets of Umuahia have been encouraged to source future soccer talents from the Abia State Secondary School Unity Cup which the opening ceremony kicks off on Friday.
Abia State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba stated this on Tuesday at Umuahia township stadium while briefing Journalists on the Secondary school sports events which will involve about 1000 students from secondary schools drawn from all LGAs of the state. He noted that the unity cup will provide ample opportunity for scouts in Enyimba, Abia Warriors, and Abia Comets to identify, monitor and snap up future talents.
The Sports and Youths Commissioner expressed delight that the ban placed on Umuahia township stadium by the NPFL has been lifted and appreciated the special efforts of Governor Alex in the return of Abia Warriors to Umuahia as well as his funding of sports and youth development.
