$10m Bribery Allegation: Reps rescind decision to drag Justice Taiwo before NJC
It would be recalled that the House Committee of the Whole on Tuesday, June 2nd, resolved to petition the NJC to investigate Justice Taiwo and the circumstances surrounding the Order procured by Ikenga and CUPP.
However, the green chamber following a motion moved by the Chairman Rules and Business, Abubakar Fulata resolved to rescind the earlier resolution because of “additional information. The motion reads: “The Report of the Ad–hoc Committee on the $10 Million Bribery Allegations against the House of Representatives was adopted on Tuesday, 2 June 2020.“Additional information available to the House on the subject matter relating to recommendation as adopted.”
Speaking on the motion, the speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila said that the house acted on the media reports to arrive at the decision. Appealed to the media not to mislead the populace. He added that “Justice Taiwo rightfully said that there was no such order.” Adding that “I want to direct my address to the press, please be very mindful of what you report. It was based on your reportage that the recommendation was made. It has since been clarified.”
