The Ebonyi State government has approved funds for the construction of buildings for two new universities in the state. Commissioner for Information and State Orientation Jude Okpor disclosed this to newsmen after the state executive council meeting in Abakiliki on Thursday.

Okpor named the universities as the University of Information and Communication Technology and the University of Aeronautic Engineering. He noted that the construction of buildings at the two new universities would be done through direct labour. According to him: 'Deliberating on matters arising from the previous

meeting, particularly the ongoing construction of 140 units of 3-bedroom bungalows in Izzo and Amaeze communities of Ishielu Local Government Area, Council constituted a special committee to determine the progress of work at the project site and also to commence the process of termination for non-performing contractors. ' This is in line with government’s determination to ensure the completion of the project without further delay.
