Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, on Friday charged the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun and the Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Yusuf Bichi to explain the whereabouts of Nigerian anonymous whistleblower, PIDONIGERIA.
Ezekwesili said the IGP or DSS DG should explain to Nigerians why either of the agencies arrested the undercover journalist because they owe a duty to be transparent and accountable. The disappearance of PIDOMNIGERIA was made public by a fellow undercover journalist, David Hundeyin. However, Ezekwesili posted on her X page: 'IG of @PoliceNG and DG of @OfficialDSSNG you have a duty of transparency and public accountability and must perform it.
'Public accountability mandates that Nigerians are duly informed about the whereabouts of Citizen-@PIDOMNIGERIA whose disappearance is raising serious concerns and fingers are pointing in your direction. 'You should by now have learnt how to avoid unconstitutional actions against citizens that can cause restiveness. 'Let the public know immediately why @PIDOMNIGERIA is in your custody.
