Describing the appointment as “well-deserved” in a statement, Balogun said Disu’s “elevation to the pinnacle of his professional career is a fitting recognition of his longstanding record of discipline, courage, integrity, and distinguished service”. Reflecting on their professional relationship, Balogun recalled that the logistics, equipment and operational support of the Rapid Response Squad were directly under his supervision at the LSSTF during Disu’s stint as commander of the police unit.“In that capacity, we worked in close collaboration, united by a shared and unwavering commitment to the security and stability of Lagos State,” Balogun said. He added that he closely observed Disu’s performance in that role and noted his “exceptional leadership qualities, strategic insight, and a commendable openness to constructive engagement with civilian stakeholders”. “He brought innovation to policing operations, embraced accountability, and consistently demonstrated deep concern for the welfare and professional development of his officers,” Balogun added.“Under his leadership, regular training initiatives, improved operational readiness, and strengthened welfare support were sustained in partnership with the LSSTF.” The ex-LSSTF CEO said he is confident that the new acting IGP will uphold the highest standards of professionalism and strengthen the Nigeria Police Force in carrying out its constitutional duties. “His appointment is both timely and appropriate. I wish him great wisdom, fortitude, and success as he assumes this significant national responsibility,” the statement reads.
