Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has declared eight days holiday for schools to allow the Independent National Electoral Commission use the schools as collation centres of the general elections.
The Commissioner for Education, Lawan Wakilbe, stated, yesterday, in Maiduguri: “I’m directed to release an addendum to the 2022/2023 school calendar by directing eight days of holidays during the forthcoming general elections.” According to him, the holidays slated between Thursday, February 23 and Wednesday, March 1, 2023 will also enable staff and eligible students to exercise their civic rights in the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The holidays, he added, will continue from March 9 to 15 for the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.
