Zamfara State’s Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, has dethroned Magajin Garin Gusau, Alhaji Haliru Magaji, for leading the All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu’s campaign directorate in the build-up to the 2023 general elections. In a letter dated June 24, and signed by the secretary of the emirate council, Sambo A. Sambo, the emir said the dethronement took effect from Friday, June 23, 2023.

In a letter dated June 24, and signed by the secretary of the emirate council, Sambo A. Sambo, the emir said the dethronement took effect from Friday, June 23, 2023. However, sources familiar with the Gusau Emirate Council said the sack was not unconnected with the role played by the monarch in the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council.
A source said during the campaign, one of the initiatives of the coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign in Zamfara, Senator Kabiru Marafa was the creation of the Directorate of community-based Institutions headed by Alhaji Haliru Muhammad Magaji, the dethroned monarch.
