This was contained in a statement signed by the National President, MAN, Kabir Kankara, while expressing concern over the spate of killings recently in the State.
He further stated that the association welcomes any measure aimed at restoring the sanctity of human lives and the security of investments of members who have been legitimately licensed by the government supervisory and regulatory agencies. “Prior to this action, Miners Association of Nigeria had, at different fora and through various media, echoed the cries of our members who hold legitimate mining titles with huge investments in the affected areas, but had practically been chased out by these fully armed bandits.
“However, having said that much, the Association welcomes any measure aimed at restoring the sanctity of human lives and the security of the investments of our members who have been legitimately licensed by the government supervisory and regulatory agencies.”He also in the statement alleged that armed-bandits-turned-illegal-miners were mostly from neighboring countries of Burkina-Faso, Chad, Niger and even, Ghana who are sponsored and have sophisticated weapons.
