The All Progressives Congress, Zamfara State Chapter, has debunked the claim that one of Governor Bello Matawalle’s commissioners, who criticised the Federal Government, was a member of the APC.
The Commissioner for Rural Development and Cooperatives, Abubakar Abdullahi, recently faulted FG’s handling of the security situation in the country.
“Banditry has killed more than 3,000 people in Zamfara alone, yet, the Federal Government pays more attention to COVID-19 that has killed less than 200 nationwide,” Abdullahi had said.Reacting, the Peoples Democratic Party-led administration in the state condemned the commissioner and identified him as a member of the APC.
But the APC in the state disowned the commissioner as its member, accusing the PDP of trying to bury its weak link. In a statement, the APC said, “We care less about the issue raised by the Commissioner but rather we care much about the claim that one of our party members, Abubakar Abdullahi was appointed to be a member of Matawalle’s cabinet.
It said Abdullahi was not a member of the APC but a member of Accord Party adding that “he even contested the position of member, House of Representatives for Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency in the in 2019 general elections”.
