The new law, passed on Thursday by the Kano State House of Assembly, has abolished the five emirates established by former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. While signing the law, the governor expressed satisfaction that the new legislation would bring development closer to the people and foster sustainable socio-economic progress.
