According to a statement by the state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Thursday, the plan is a strategy put in place by the police to respond to any emergencies and security concerns peculiar to Christmas and end-of-the-year festivities. “The CP noted that the use of knockouts and others, in addition to causing nuisance and disturbance of public peace, is also capable of causing unnecessary fear and apprehension, as well as other dangers associated with its use, particularly during this harmattan period,” according to the statement.
A statement issued on Thursday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, William Aya, indicated that the CP further tasked them to ensure round-the-clock visibility and confidence-boosting patrols throughout the state. All rights reserved.
