Note that most events occur between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. EDT/4 p.m. and 6 a.m. PDT. All times listed below are EDT.The opening ceremony takes place on July 23, but competition begins early in some sports. Canada finished fourth the last time softball was on the Olympic roster, in 2008, and will be looking to get off to a good start against Mexico and the archrival United States team .
